For more than a decade, Dr. Joe was the Director of Sports Medicine for the world renowned Williams Island Spa in Aventura, Florida while also working as team physician for many local High Schools and University teams. After more than 20 years building a successful practice in Miami, there was little time left for family.
In 2005, Joe, his wife Kathy, and their two daughters, packed up and moved 750 miles north to Tryon, North Carolina. The reason was simple. The Picone’s felt that the fast-paced life in Florida was not the proper environment to raise children After visiting Western North Carolina many times, they decided as a family that Tryon offered a better quality of life and a better place for their girls to grow up.
In addition to being a board certified chiropractic physician, Dr. Picone holds an advanced degree as a Diplomat of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians as well as being a certified Internal Health Specialist through Logan College of Chiropractic.
He has spent over 1000 hours as an on-field physician successfully treated amateur and professional athletes for shoulder, elbow, neck and back injuries, including athletes from the NFL, NBA, MLB, LPGA, PGA, the National Thoroughbred Racing Association and more.
Dr. Picone is also a Certified Enzyme Therapist through the Food Enzyme Institute (formerly Loomis Institute). Enzyme therapy is a form of nutritional treatment using various combinations of plant enzymes to help alleviate disease. Through enzyme therapy, digestive problems, acid reflux, constipation, restless leg syndrome, fibromyalgia, depression, anxiety and almost any type of chronic condition that affects the body can be controlled

In June of 2022, we lost Dr. Picone very unexpectedly. He leaves a legacy that is known far and wide. Foothills Wellness Center is keeping its doors open thanks to two wonderful and knowledgeable doctors that are willing to fill in.
Dr. Gina Barros, Chiropractor, who was previously located in Landrum, South Carolina, has joined Foothills Wellness Center to help in this transitional period. Dr. Barros focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems and the effects of these disorders on general health. Chiropractic care is used most often to treat back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches.
We are grateful for her help and excited to have her in the office with us. We are currently seeing Chiropractic patients on Mondays and Thursdays.
Dr. Barros graduated from Life Chiropractic College in 1988 where she received a scholarship for academic and clinical excellence. For 15 years she practiced in Atlanta, GA and has been serving the Landrum area residents since 2006.
Dr. Barros studied for two years with Dr. Larry Webster the “father of pediatric chiropractic”. Her postgraduate studies include extremity adjusting, radiology, neurofeedback and cold laser application. She continually exceeds the requirements for postgraduate education in an effort to provide the best care for her patients
Dr. Joe Everhart, Chiropractor, specializes in preventing, diagnosing, and treating conditions associated with the neuromusculoskeletal system, while improving each patients functionality and quality of life. Conditions treated include sciatica, neck pain, and arthritis pain, among many others. Dr. Everhart seeks to reduce pain and discomfort through manipulation and adjustment of the spine.
Dr. Everhart is also a Certified Enzyme Therapist through the Food Enzyme Institute (formerly Loomis Institute).
